Welsh Language Co-ordinator
Hawys has a BA in French and German from the University of Southampton. She has previously worked as a Translation Project Manager, where she worked with medical-pharmaceutical translations, including the translation of research ethics committee correspondence and clinical trial documentation. She also worked as a Subtitler, where she provided subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, as well as English subtitles for both live and pre-recorded Welsh language television programmes such as the news and live Welsh sporting events.
Hawys is CEDAR’s Welsh Language Coordinator, ensuring that all necessary outputs are bilingual. She works closely with the Welsh Value in Health National Programme by providing Welsh translations of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMs). This work includes conducting qualitative interviews with various Welsh-speaking patients, clinicians and/or members of the public to ensure that all Welsh translations are clear and comprehensible to the public.
