Rhys has a BSc (Hons) in Physics with Medical Physics (University of Wales College of Cardiff) and a PhD (University of Wales College of Medicine).  He is a Clinical Scientist (CS06718), Chartered Engineer and Chartered Physicist, and has been part of the Department of Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering, University Hospital of Wales, since 1996.  Rhys is an expert in compression therapies and prevention of deep vein thrombosis and has worked with industrial partners over many years in the development and assessment of medical devices. Rhys is the R&D lead for the Clinical Diagnostics and Therapeutics Clinical Board of Cardiff & Vale UHB, and the Director of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering. His clinical area of interest is in vascular ultrasound of arterio-venous fistulae for haemodialysis, and he is currently also responsible for the Medical Physics undergraduate teaching for Cardiff University
