NICE Medical Technologies Guidance

CEDAR is an External Assessment Group (EAG) to NICE's Medical Technologies Evaluation Programme (MTEP), contributing to the development of NICE medical technologies guidance. This guidance focuses on evaluating new and innovative medical devices and diagnostics, including those that:

  • Deliver treatment, such as devices implanted during surgical procedures.
  • Provide greater independence to patients.
  • Detect or monitor medical conditions.

CEDAR carries out the following activities during the development of medical technologies guidance:

  • Critique company's clinical and cost evidence submission 
  • Conduct new literature search to identify clinical and cost evidence where required
  • Summarise and critically appraise of newly identified evidence 
  • Critique company's cost model
  • Conduct new economic modelling work where required
  • Attend NICE Medical Technologies Advisory Committee
