NICE HealthTech Guidance

CEDAR is an External Assessment Group (EAG) to NICE's HealthTech Guidance (HTG) Programme. This guidance focuses on evaluating new and existing medical devices and diagnostics, including those that:

  • Deliver treatment, such as devices implanted during surgical procedures.
  • Provide greater independence to patients.
  • Detect or monitor medical conditions.

CEDAR carries out the following activities during the development of HealthTech guidance:

  • Conduct independent literature searches to identify clinical and cost evidence 
  • Synthesise and critically appraise evidence 
  • Critique company's clinical/cost evidence and economic model submissions 
  • Conduct de novo economic modelling work where required
  • Attend NICE Medical Technologies Advisory Committee
