CEDAR is an External Assessment Group (EAG) to NICE's HealthTech Guidance (HTG) Programme. This guidance focuses on evaluating new and existing medical devices and diagnostics, including those that:
- Deliver treatment, such as devices implanted during surgical procedures.
- Provide greater independence to patients.
- Detect or monitor medical conditions.
CEDAR carries out the following activities during the development of HealthTech guidance:
- Conduct independent literature searches to identify clinical and cost evidence
- Synthesise and critically appraise evidence
- Critique company's clinical/cost evidence and economic model submissions
- Conduct de novo economic modelling work where required
- Attend NICE Medical Technologies Advisory Committee
