Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee

Cedar is commissioned by WHSSC (Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee) to support the development and update of its Specialised Services Commissioning Policies. Rapid reviews prepared by Cedar, on behalf of WHSSC, aim to summarise the available clinical and economic evidence as well as inform about current practice and patient pathways in Wales, UK and, when relevant, overseas. The purpose of these reviews is to objectively evaluate the evidence and thereby ensure that all WHSSC Commissioning Policies are evidence based and relevant to Welsh residents.

An example of a WHSSC policy developed with the help of Cedar’s evidence review is the Trans-catheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) for Severe Symptomatic Aortic Stenosis (SSAS) policy (CP58).
